How to L(earn) More
It's quite handy that the word 'learn' is like the word 'earn' with it's 'L' plates on.
There's no better clue on how to earn more of whatever you want (mental, emotional and in some cases physical rewards) than that. Learning lays down the path for you to walk or run down, and also has you running faster.
So What Should You Learn?
First I'd consider studying the art and science of the work you do. Get some role models who made it in your field and study their work. What you learn might surprise and inspire you. The more you learn the more interesting your work will become. And the more likely you'll get better at it. And when you get better at something, you tend to enjoy it more and your enjoyment fuels this positive cycle further.
Then get more specific. Start learning about your career options. Learn what positions you could get in to. Learn what rewards you could earn yourself along the way. Learn about the effect of your work on other people's lives. Learn what's changing around you right now, culturally, economically, technologically etc. Learn what might change in future. Learn what might happen if you fail to grow in the position you're in whilst these changes happen. Learn what you'd need to do to earn the rewards you want and get into a more desirable position. Learn how to do those things in the right ways at the right times. Learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours you'd need to get those things done well. With focus, it doesn't take long to get at something, and if it's the key skill or knowledge area you're paid for, it can be very rewarding.
It's all out there to learn, and more accessible than ever before. And you have the equipment you need to learn it. You don't have to wait for someone to spoon-feed you a course.
The Fastest and Easiest Way to Do it
Perhaps most useful of all, learn how to learn those things fast, easily and enjoyably, and learn how to retain and recall them and then apply them quickly and well.
Learning tactically is a learnable skill, one you can self-direct, and perhaps the most useful and rewarding business, career and life-skill. It paves the way for any future success and reward.
I help businesses acquire this skill, so if you need my help either get in touch or put your manager or L&D department in touch with me and I'll be pleased to help.
